Background

I grew up on a farm in the Oxfordshire countryside surrounded by animals and nature, which continues to influence my work today. You’ll often notice natural themes woven into my murals, bringing warmth and character to the spaces they inhabit.

Approach

Each mural is designed specifically for the business it belongs to. The atmosphere of the space, the clientele and the story behind a business are often the most inspiring starting points for a design.

Meet the window mural artist behind The Artisan Known as Fawn

Hello

My name is Hawthorn and I’m the window mural artist behind The Artisan Known As Fawn. I hand paint custom advertising and seasonal artwork onto glass for shops, cafés and businesses across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Berkshire, creating eye-catching displays that help businesses stand out and attract customers.

Experience

I’ve been drawing and creating art for as long as I can remember but my love for window painting began while working in a local café where I was asked to add decoration to the blackboards. On a quiet shift I extended the artwork onto the window and watched as passers-by stopped, smiled and took notice of the space in a new way, since then I’ve continued developing the craft and have been lucky enough to work with many wonderful clients over the past five years.

Technique

I’m drawn to the temporary nature of window murals. They exist for a season, a celebration or a moment in time before making way for something new.

Today I use a combination of paint pens and acrylic paint applied to the inside of the glass. This allows for flexible and detailed designs that can be removed when it’s time for the next display.

People and the stories behind their businesses are always at the heart of my work. If you’re interested in creating a custom window mural for your space, I’d love to hear from you.
